Solwaig
Uncharitable

One more attempt of new Metal crew to gain some sympathies over, targeted with eight new and one re-recorded compositions. Two years have made appropriate changes in the approach and even music, guys have matured a bit more and as it was reported before – changed their drummer. Professionals like Atso always do their job flawlessly, in spite of musical style. It is really hard for me to judge whether this is Nu Metal or not, at least it sounds not so typical for my not so new Metal mind. At least this kind of music also develops and brings novelties. But I have a platter to compare this to – previous recording of Solwaig , and so – the most noticeable is their move towards heavier and at times also more intense standards. Mechanical Celtic Frost riff, Thrashy moments, and mellower side of Hypocrisy thrown in do not make it sound worse. However, these particular episodes do not final up in an own face, and they definitely keep writing music taking modern Metal as the fundament.
In a while it gets real boring – some magic pills against numb grooves wouldn't make harm, heh. Yo, to make a review you always need to suffer. If you check what Evestus is signing about, it gets clear that he suffers as well. But this type of socially nihilistic poetry do pisses me off – one of the worst things it is possible to bump into in our beloved underground. Fuck, if you are so unhappy, just go and kill yourself, but don't sing about it over and over again. We had one Kurt Cobain , enough. Professionally printed black CD-R is well done though, worth the money it might cost.
