Iidsetel sünkjatel radadel

To listen to «Iidsetel sünkjatel radadel» catapults me back more than ten years ago when the masters of the Estonian Pagan black metal sent me their first demo-tape to review (see our very old paper format issues). «Iidsetel sünkjatel radadel» is the band’s fourth full length and with members active (or previously active) for years in acts such as Loits, Must Missa or Manatark, you already know that you have to deal with competent musicians. Each one of the tracks recorded here balance between epic ambiance and brutal majestic aggression and as a matter of fact a real war metal hybrid is created. Throughout this album, Taraphita’ song-writers do a fantastic job and show an incredible knack for creating battle hymns that remind of the best Bathory, Moonsorrow or Thyrfing works. Tracks such as «Vahkturm», «Ristikatk» or the mighty «Raudses haardes» display such a huge quantity of quality guitar lines that I really found myself amazed that those Estonian musicians aren’t better know outside their borders. «Iidsetel sünkjatel radadel» shows the right balance between epic / heroic surroundings, Pagan influences and pure black metal. With this effort, Tharaphita should really be amongst the biggest and best bands around at the moment. Essential!!!!!
