Üle tule, hirmus enda ees... what kind of music it might be, if lyrics or poems inside the booklet are so exotic? Surely black metal. No clue what this line literally means, but here we got a brand new project of Nordic bm, done by a single soul. No! It is not from Scandinavia, it is from Estonia, and however Nordic it may sound, me sopposes Manatark is a kind of expression to look at.
This monotonic though monumental, irritating though majestic, raw though thoroughly put together tape is good preview of what Draconic ( also member of Carnifex and Tharaphita) has in his blackiest corner of personal mind. Music which he performs on these nine compositions already carries a good portion of hate through wintry valleys, snow burdens and windy storms.
Such description could easily fit a plethora of similar one-member projects, as well as just dozens of bm bands, yet Manatark definitely belonges to the better kind of them. I have found straight forwardness of old Ancient, and shamanism of ancient Burzum in a few places of this tape. Ha, Draconic is brave enough to comment several tunes like: „this is what you would call traditional black metal”; he refuses to name it as own composition!! On one hand it is fucking honest words, on the other – just stop doing the trend, and make your own compositions!!!
I addition I want to say that three instrumental tunes make the tape fresher, letting to evaluate both music and...vocals (in the rest of the tape, you dumb). Just listen to me – get it for sake of Estonian scene, it is the reflection of it.
