Required Sacrifices

“ Required Sacrifices “ is a weird album. NIHILISTIKRYPT come from Estonia, and they offer death metal that’s definately not unique. Classical constructions, quite structured mid-tempo tracks, nice strong growling vocals towering above the whole : on the whole, nothing special. But then why these five guys hit us ? It's easy, because their music is so linear and simple in the structures to be highly enthralling; of course, this has been exploited ‘till the excess, and it will be hard to find “ Required Sacrifices “ in the top of the monthly charts of the metal zines around the world, but we must say in favour of this work that the mixture of death metal, thrash metal has been enriched a little with heavy metal, with with epic choruses and anthemic slowings down, and it makes the whole at least personal. The demo won’t make us jump on the chair, but head-banging is assured with NIHILISTIKRYPT, they try to escape the austerity of the bands in the genre that mostly take themselves too seriously and fail in having fun, so even if they have got nothing new to offer musically, at least their level of attitude often reminds the old and rustproof MOTORHEAD. A weird album, as I was saying, with a horrible cover and a little hope to remain in the history of the genre, but it presents us a band with clear ideas in its mind and able to compose nine tracks which are simple and direct. I can't understand what is the secret of NIHILISTIKRYPT, but I certainly advise to give them a chance : they really deserve it.
