Meeste Muusika

Ad Arma! Magazine

I was waiting for this EP with great anticipation, as my intuition told me that our Estonian brothers just couldn’t offer any bad record – on the contrary, it must have been something totally new, fresh and definitely original. Raiugem Ruunideks 7”EP, released before this one, only reinforced my anticipations and hopes.

Therefore, two songs, that are approximately 10 minutes long, are not enough, so you have to press “repeat all" button and indulge to eternal musical bliss. In comparison with the earlier EP, the most recent release of the band is significantly gloomier and more melancholic, but also more traditional, i.e. compliant with all the canons of Northern Black Metal. There is no more sarcasm, cynicism, relaxation. Yet there is a lot of suffering, persistence, gloom and anger that is revealed in the way characteristic only to Loits. A short acoustic intro, graduating into mid speed of military march, progressing from time to time into fast hammering, keyboards and accordion in the background, which suits the music surprisingly well – all that leaves an indelible impression. Besides traditional Black Metal howling and agonized shrieks, there is a lot of clear, conventional vocals, performed in a dramatic, narrative form. While listening, I couldn’t divest of the idea that the feeling, that this music bears, is a tragic message from the past that finds no comfort and comes back to the conscience each time fiercer and more hopeless.

Black Metal otherwise, which is obligatory to try. [Speigas]
