GREEN CHRISTMAS 2004 - 18.12.2004
28-10-2004

Final bandlist of Green Christmas Festival 2004 has been announced. The festival takes place at Rakvere Spordihall (Kastani 12, Rakvere) on December 18th, 2004.

Performing acts:

PARADISE LOST (UK)
CALLISTO (FIN)
WATERDOG (SWE)
HORRICANE
SEX MACHINE
THARAPHITA
SOLWAIG
ECHOSILENCE
BRIDES IN BLOOM

This year is probably going to be the breakpoint for the festival, because the recently built new sports hall (holding max 3500 persons) gives new opportunities for organizers to bring to Rakvere artists who have never been here and to turn Green Christmas into the best rock festival in Estonia.

About Green Christmas Festival

The first Green Christmas festival took place in 1996 in Rakvere. Considering the population of the small town, the festival had a surprisingly large audience, more than 200 tickets were sold. The following year the festival moved to the small hall of the Rakvere Theatre and since 1997 all festivals have taken place there. The growth of audience has been noticeable : 1996-200, 1997-250, 1998-280, 1999-310, 2000-350, 2001-380, 2002-600 and 2003-600. In 2003 the number of tickets was limited and the festival was sold out one and a half weeks before the show.

Through those 8 years most of the Estonian younger generation big names have appeared at the festival: Vennaskond, Sergei Abolymov, Tharaphita, East Trading Wang, [o3], Forgotten Sunrise, Ignorabimus, Recycle Bin, Herald, Echosilence, Gee, Grolf, and more. However, the old masters like Gunnar Graps & Magnetic Band and J.M.K.E. haven't been left out. 2001 was the first time a foreign band appeared in the festival -- The Anchor from Finland. The 2003 festival saw two more bands came from Finland -- Lullacry and Omnium Gatherum.

By now Green Christmas has expanded to the point that it is the most penetrating rock festival in Estonia during the winter period, at the same time the festival is the longest running in Estonia. Every year organizers get more than 50 demos from beginners who wish to appear in the festival.
